The Watertower

A triennial artist

commission

The Watertower is a permanent installation at CATE.  Originally the water tower for Alcoa’s Point Henry Smelter, it is now the CATE symbol.

Every three years, an artist is commissioned to use the Watertower as an installation.

The inaugural artist is renowned Finnish artist Vesi Torni.

Vesi Torni’s installation enhances the natural and man-made features of the site.  Each surface of the tower has been treated with a mirror chrome finish to reflect the environment and the movement of people to the vibrant entrance of CATE.
