Bibliophile: it’s a Paige Turner

Paige Turner, retired librarian, is an artist residing in the small village of Shackspare in rural Victoria,  Australia.  As a lover of books, she feels for the unwanted books discarded
by society and scours secondhand shops, markets and garage sales, rescuing
books and turning them into unique works of art.

CATE@the smelter has commissioned Paige to design a sculpture for the
permanent collection.  Turner is collaborating with CATE’s expert craftspeople to
create a four metre high aluminium book to take up residence in the grounds.

Paige’s forebears came to central Victoria from London in the 1850s gold rush, and settled at Mount Alexander.  Paige is reticent to mention her middle name, Mallord, for fear that people may think she is trying to gain fame through her eponymous distant forebear.
